Intermediate Level Classes

Go deeper into your body.

The Experience

Ready to progress past our Rookie Level Classes? Our Intermediate Level Classes are the next stage in advancement. A significant jump up from Rookie Level, on the difficulty scale, more challenging exercises are incorporated into your Pilates practice. The pace is also increased, as your instructor shows you how to go deeper into your body.

As with our other class options, every session focuses on one or two of the major pieces of Pilates equipment (including the reformer, tower, chair and mat, along with a number of minor pieces) and will give you personalized instruction in a motivating shared environment with up to four students.

*Intermediate Level Classes are drop-in. There are a number of class times to choose from every week, and you can come as often as you’d like. All class packages are valid for two years, so when you go away on that long vacation or work trip, you don’t have to worry about your package expiring.

What to Expect

  • Personalized Programming
  • Thorough + Hands-On Instruction
  • Motivating Group Atmosphere
  • A Variety of Exercises
  • Exercise Progressions
  • Increased Strength + Flexibility
  • Improved Posture + Body Awareness
  • Decreased Stress Levels

What to Wear

Breathable, comfortable fitness clothing without zippers or buttons – whatever you would wear for yoga, weight training, etc. The more form-fitting your clothing is, the better your instructor will be able to see your alignment.

Prerequisite

Since a number of Rookie Level Classes are needed to reach this Pilates skill level, eligibility for Intermediate Level Classes is determined by Tone Pilates staff. This is a safety precaution to ensure that everyone in a class is at roughly the same Pilates level.

*If you have significant previous Pilates experience, you can challenge our prerequisite system. To challenge our system, book a single Private Class and be assessed to be given the green light to take our Intermediate Level Classes.

FAQ

How long is a class?

Each Intermediate Level Class is 55-minutes.

How many Rookie Level Classes does it take to get the green light to take Intermediate Level Classes?

It depends on a number of factors, including the fitness level you begin Pilates with, your movement history and your injury history. Some people advance very quickly, while others need more time.

If you’re taking one Rookie Level Class per week and also have an active lifestyle then the average is about one year. If you don’t live the most active lifestyle outside of Pilates classes but are doing 2-3 Rookie Level Classes per week then the average is also about one year. If you don’t live the most active lifestyle and are doing one Rookie Level Class per week or less, then it’s going to take much longer to progress to the Intermediate Level.

*Brand new clients, with significant Pilates experience, can challenge our prerequisite system. Book a single Private Class and be assessed by a Tone Pilates instructor to get the green light to take our Intermediate Level Classes.

When does a class package expire?

All of our class package options expire two years from the purchase date.

What is your cancellation policy?

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel a class. If less than 24 hours notice is given, your missed class will come off of your package.

You can cancel a class easily online after logging into your account or on our iOS app/Android app.

What style of Pilates is taught?

Every Tone Pilates class is taught in the Classical Pilates style in the tradition of Romana Kryzanowska.

What exactly is Pilates?

Pilates is a physical fitness system developed about a hundred years ago by a man named Joseph Pilates. Some ingenious equipment is used, all having large springs for resistance. Pilates might be thought of as weight training meets gymnastics meets yoga.

What exactly does Pilates do? What are the benefits?

Pilates provides students with a number of key benefits. It improves strength, flexibility, circulation, posture and stamina while decompressing joints, relieving stress (both physical and mental) and developing mental control.
